I have Windows XP and Office XP. To write to a certain character, I have to press Alt, then a code number while working in an MS Word file. I understand that if you have direct access keys. For example, you can press F1, you can sign, you will receive the normal by pressing Alt and a certain code to.

I would be grateful if you could explain the procedure step by step to do. I think we should go to Insert, then Symbol. I could not succeed. If Sugget While I Office XP. Thank you.

You are on the right track. Go to "Insert" -> "symbol". Now select the desired icon (single click it), then click the button that says "Shortcut Key".

In the new Search box and click the box that says "Press new shortcut and press the button on the toolbar, click Assign (F1 for example). Then click the" Apply "and return to your Word document.

And now it should be possible to add this symbol after you press the corresponding key on the keyboard.
